So I actually did a 'family movie night' sort of deal last week, me, the folks and the little brother went and took in "The Queen" -- which, btw, was good, simple dignity and expression of emotion -- but fgs, you'd think we could've gone to a theatre (it was an AMC, btw) with more movies and showtimes, what on earth could a nine-year-old boy get out of that flick, but noooooo-----

-----Okay, getting off-track here. Anyway... )

So most people I know read my leetle rant on that "Bride & Prejudice" movie made with Aishwarya Rai (Bollywood mega-actress) in the lead, but did you know, she was also in some pure-Bollywood version of "Sense & Sensibility"? The title's all in Hindi, even I can't begin to pronounce it, but you can take a stab at it. No, serious, I'm not kidding...! *aghast*

...you know, for a brown girl, I'm remarkably unaffected by Bollywood. I don't watch it. Frankly, I don't quite care to. Oh, I have nothing [too] personal against the industry in general, but I supposed its a combination of my western growing-up and environment, plus what I personally and specifically like to watch and the kinds of things I enjoy, which have me so dispassionate about something that, supposedly, all brown females, in the motherland or otherwise, are supposed to adore.

Meh... )
